What is 'Training to Test
Standard'?
When you have completed your CBT, you may wish to complete
the DSA Motorcycle pursuit test, which will give you your
full Motorcycle Licence. You will need to pass a motorcycle
theory test firstly, then you can apply for your practical.
The fee is currently £90.50 (for parts 1 and 2).
Types of Licence
MOPED - open to anyone 16+, will enable you to
ride a moped not exceeding 50cc, not allowing you on
motorways but you are allowed to carry a pillion passenger.
A1 - open to anyone 17+, take your
test on a machine between 75-120cc, will enable you to
carry a pillion, ride on motorways but you are restricted
to 120cc unless you take a further test.
A2 - open to anyone 17+, take your
test on a machine between 120-125cc, will enable you to
carry a pillion, ride on motorways but you are restricted
to a 'bike with a maximum power output of 33bhp for two
years. After your two years are up, you may ride any
machine you like without having to take a further test.
Direct Access Scheme
(DAS) - open to anyone 21+, take your test
on a machine of 48bhp or above, carry a pillion, ride on
motorways with no restrictions of power or time-span.
The pre-test training is conducted on either Kymco or Honda
125's for the A2 licence, or on Kawasaki ER5's for Direct
Access. Lessons are conducted on a maximum 2-1 ratio and
run 7-days a week to suit your time and pocket. We can
conduct any time-span, ranging from 2-hour sessions to
'intensive' packages of 1/2, full, 2 or 3-days training
courses.
Practical tests can be taken in Kendal, Barrow or Heysham
and can be booked privately or through ourselves at no
futher cost other than the DSA fee -
